ALROSA to invest 126 bln rbl in Mir-Gluboky mine construction
ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russian diamond mining giant ALROSA plans to invest 126 billion rubles in construction of the Mir-Gluboky mine in Yakutia, Aisen Nikolayev, head of the republic of Yakutia, told PRIME on Thursday during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
“The questions of security were prioritized while designing this facility to eliminate even a theoretical possibility of another large-scale catastrophe,” he said, referring to a 2017 flood at the Mir mine that eight miners and reduced the company’s diamond output by 10%.
“ALROSA will invest about 126 billion rubles in the project.”
He added that works on the project should start in 2024 and production launched in 2031–2032.
“The combined amount of reserves … at the field secures operation of the mine for almost half a century,” he said.
The Mir mine was flooded in August 2017, which killed (84.3249 rubles – U.S. $1)
